For todays card I have taken inspiration from something I saw on Pinterest by buckeyeinklings. She designed this slider card and I just changed it a little to fit our A4 paper here in New Zealand. So this card is a slider card. Its called this as it has a mechanism that locks the card closed and then slides to open it again. I have used the Ice Cream Corner suite to decorate it, this months suite of the month.
So I have used the usual size for the card base cut at 5 7/8 x 8 1/4' but instead of folding it in half I have scored this at 3 1/4' and 7'. I have then cut two pieces of DSP to layer on the front of the card, one at 1 1/8 x 5 3/4' and another at 3 1/8 x 5 3/4'. I added a piece of Bumblebee to the inside panel cut at 3 1/2 x 5 3/4'.
To make the mechanism to slide you will need to stamp the ice block from the Sweet Ice Cream stamp set on Thick Basic White and the fussy cut the shape. Cut an oval from the detailed band dies in Terracotta Tile. For the mechanism to slide you need to punch the card on the left panel with the Classic Label punch 1/8' from the edge, then mark where the right hand panel over laps and punch again with the Classic Label punch.
Tip: punch the cardstock first before adding the DSP as the punches do not like going through multiple layers.
Stick the oval shape to the inside left panel with a little washi tape, then through the slit created use the foam adhesive strips or cut to size dimentionals to adhere the Ice Block shape. Before you lock the card in place remember to remove the washi tape. Decorate the front of the card with ribbon and sentiment. I have used the Blackberry Bliss striped ribbon from the suite.
And this is what it looks like on the inside.....
This card can be replicated with any medium sized stamp or punch image so is very versatile.
