Every month my up-line Kristine McNickle sets us a Creative Challenge. For April our challenge was to make a surprise opening card. I chose to decorate my card using this months suite of the month, the Sand & Sea suite for the beautiful soft colours.
The point of these challenges is to keep our team creating and inspiring each other. We are all always learning. New techniques in card layouts and ways to decorate our cards.
This card in particular was fun for me to make as it challenged me to think of new ways to card layouts using 12 x 12 cardstock for card making when it is usually reserved for scrapbooking. That is in fact why I actually already had some 12 x 12 cardstock in my stash. I decorated this card with the beautiful Sand & Sea suite utilising all the components of the suite. For the front of the card I used a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock, die cut using the large Seaside Seashell die then embossed it using the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder to create the background. Then I did the same in Seaside Spray, Petal Pink and So Saffron. For the coloured pieces I cut them away from the rest of the sea scene and adhered one seashell of each colour to the front using dimensionals. I used a piece of the Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper in the background and a second design on the inside of the card.
I further decorated the inside with the Seaside Shells stickers that are also in the suite. And added some bling to the front by using the Opal Rounds. This was such a fun card to make.
