It's May which means it's a new month. Yay!! This also means that it's time for a new suite of the month. It's even more exciting this month as it's also the month the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue is released and even better it is live TODAY!! So for this month I have chosen the new Hand-Penned suite. This suite stood out to me because of the beautiful soft colours and flower designs. I am not usually a flower loving crafter but this suite was one of my favourites immediately.
I recently made some cards using the book fold which I really enjoyed. I have also been wanting to learn more ways to make pop-up cards so when I saw some cards that had combined to two together I was inspired to make these myself. The key difference with the measurements for this base card compared to the book fold can is where the pop-up mechanism sits needs to be a square. So with this in mind I have worked out my own measurements.
I have kept the front of the card very simple to allow the beautiful Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper be the centre of attention.
The centre pop-up piece is a square piece of DSP folded in half, in a triangle. Then the two corners of each square are folded together to form your pop-up mechanism. For the card base I have used one of the new 2021-2023 In Colours Pale Papaya which coordinates with the beautiful Hand-Penned DSP. The front of the card shows off the flower design while the inside of the card shows off the subtle opposite side of the DSP.
Then when you open it up there is the surprise pop-up and enough space for a sentiment and message on the inside of the card. I have also used the Scalloped Contour Dies to die cut the Basic White piece for the inside insert which is new from the 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue.
